What was the original idea ?
Interesting in developing backgammon online competition. I tried to find
a way to organize some kind of World Online Backgammon Tour.
I first imagined to create 3 events during 2009 at Gammonzone, Eliters Yahoo
and the last one at Fibs to qualify the best players for a final competition.
With no other contact, I started with 3 online websites that I know well and
even expect, to be sponsored for this final round in a neutral place. And if
this first step was a success, I was hoping to make it larger.
There is nothing new as I tried to make some kind of what have been done
for world series of backgammon, but it would be free and for online players
only.
I couldn't see any online competition which federate all of the world community
in BG and I think it was worth a try.
What has been done ?
After some reflections and contacting other TDs, the Tour ;-) was transformed
in a match versus 2 of the best Free Online Tournament : GAMMONZONE and FIBS.
With the concept below :
A team of five players from each server + two next reserved (in case of illness,
no show, computer trouble etc.)
5 fibs players playing vs 5 GZ players at FIBS one day, in 9 Pts matchs (one
match at a time for the watchers)
5 fibs players playing vs 5 GZ players at GAMMONZONE another day (3 months later,
less or more ...), in 9 Pts matchs also.
Started at five in the afternoon, European time, perhaps on a Sunday, it would make it possible for Europeens and Americans to watch and play
